Prism is inspired by the phenomenon of "synesthesia" (the association of one sense with another); in my case it is the association of certain colors with specific tonal keys. The color sequence above corresponds to the key progressions in the piece. I wanted both the music and the color image to stand on their own, as well as be able to be expressed together. The colors generally progress from dark to light in an organic order, as the music's keys progress in a simple tonal structure, with each color represented by a mini-movement in the piece, in a contrasting pattern of tempos for variety.
